How does the online vehicle deregistration in Deutschland work?
Since the end of 2023, online vehicle deregistration has made it possible to deregister your vehicle (e.g. motorcycle, car or truck) directly online with us. After deregistration, you will receive your deregistration confirmation conveniently by email and no longer have to go to the registration office yourself. With us, online deregistration is also possible from abroad, without an appointment and the deregistration fee already includes all fees charged by the authorities.
What documents do I need to deregister my car online?
When deregistering online in Deutschland, you do not need an online ID card, German ID card, power of attorney (Vollmacht) or appointment. All you need in your documents is the vehicle registration certificate (registration certificate part I) and the vehicle's license plates. We check all data of the required documents securely, quickly and reliably and inform the responsible registration offices and the road traffic office. After deregistration, the authorities automatically inform your insurance company and German customs for the vehicle tax.
Which vehicles can I deregister online in Deutschland?
You can deregister all types of vehicles with us. That means cars, scooters, motorcycles, trailers, trucks, wheel loaders, tractors, quads and anything else on four tires and with a chassis number. Important notes: for digital deregistration, however, your vehicle must have been last registered or re-registered after January 1, 2015 and the registration office must be activated for the online function by the Federal Motor Transport Authority and the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs in compliance with the i-Kfz standard. In addition to cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Duisburg and Munich, cities such as Krefeld, Böblingen, Mettmann and Siegburg are also taking part. In total, we currently offer online deregistration in over 300 districts.
What does i-Kfz mean for internet-based vehicle registration?
The term i-Kfz refers to an interface presented in September 2023 between the federal states, local authorities, including KfzPortal24, and you, the user who wants to manage their vehicle registration digitally. This interface enables the exchange of data between the registration offices and the digital administration of vehicle registrations via the Internet.
